Dr. David Vinson was approved unanimously by the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees to serve as Superintendent on September 18, 2025.

A proud graduate of Texas Tech University, Dr. Vinson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Marketing, a Master of Education in Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Character Education. He began his education career in 1992 as a gifted and talented teacher and coordinator in Idalou ISD and has since served in a wide range of leadership roles, including principal, director of technology and federal programs, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Prior to Wylie ISD, he served as Superintendent of Floresville ISD and held key leadership cabinet-level posts in Frenship ISD.

During his tenure in Wylie ISD, Dr. Vinson led transformative initiatives that elevated both academic and organizational performance. Highlights include:

  • Achieving statewide and national recognition for academic excellence, with all campuses earning distinctions and “A” ratings from the Texas Education Agency in 2025.

  • Expanding dual-credit enrollment by 600% and developing advanced academic pathways to prepare students for college and career success.

  • Launching The Wylie Way, a nationally recognized framework for character education and student well-being.

  • Successfully delivering over $700 million in bond programs on time and within budget to support enrollment growth and facility improvements.

  • Strengthening district financial health, growing Wylie ISD’s fund balance from $9 million to more than $85 million and significantly improving its financial rating.

Beyond district accomplishments, Dr. Vinson is a respected voice in education policy and reform. In 2025, he chaired the Student Behavior Management Coalition, helping secure the passage of House Bill 6, a landmark reform to student discipline in Texas. His service includes contributions to the TEA Reading Academy Planning Committee, the Texas Student Success Council, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Advisory Council. His leadership has been recognized through numerous honors, including Texas PTA Superintendent of the Year (2016) and Citizen of the Year in both Wylie and Floresville.

Dr. Vinson and his wife, Cristy, are the proud parents of two children: their son, Cal, a Texas Tech graduate now pursuing graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University, and their daughter, Kate, a graduate of North Park University in Chicago. An Eagle Scout, Dr. Vinson’s lifelong dedication to service and leadership has been a hallmark of his professional and personal journey.
